What are the most popular conservatories & how much do they cost?
That question is almost like asking someone “how long is a piece of rope? – the answer is going to take forever to agree upon. A lot of popular conservatories may not be so attractive to you.
Added to that, prices can range from rally cheap to OMG expensive.
Here is a quick list of some of the types of conservatory in the market:
- Victorian
- Lean-to
- Edwardian
- Georgian
- Regency
- Gull wing
- P, T, L, B shaped
- Orangeries
- Garden rooms
How to reduce conservatory costs?
Well, going for UPVC framed rooms can usually work out relatively lower priced. As can using polycarbonate sheets in the roof instead of glass. However, to get prices down, it usually involves some kind of compromise or other.
Lots of folk also get led astray by pricing and can come up short on the budget because they did not take into account the cost of fitting out the interior. For example, you could be excited by getting a quote that is inside your budget, only to realise that once built you need an extra 1,500 or so to put in heating, furniture, lighting etc. Not to mention landscaping the back garden to tidy up all the construction mess.
The best thing to do is to get a written quote – or 4 – then sit down with it and figure out what else you are going to need to finish the job.
