Spring 2006 Gathering - Public Thread (22-23 April)

The Digital-Car.co.uk bi-annual meet is just around the corner, and promises to be the best yet!

With our member-funded marquee making its first appearance, a themed set of fun events and tasty prizes to be had

We're pulling out all the stops this year to make sure a great time is had by all!

So make this your year to attend and come along for 2 days of CarPC heaven!

What's On?

TopGear themed challenges - with prizes!
To be announced are various team based challenges that will pit your wit's and skill against other the DC members. The Headunit flinging challenge is the first confirmed event. Rules + details to follow

Hot Food
percyt will be cooking over the weekend, with BBQ and vegetarian options, (prepayable £5 per day to percyt to cover all your food)

XBOX Gaming Tournament
Two projectors, and two linked XBOX's, will form the gaming area in the marquee - 8 Player Halo, NFS etc. If any of you have your own console's/games please do bring them along - there is mains power

Cinema
Saturday night becomes cinema night in the marquee! With a selection of films on view, what better way to relax in a camp site than sitting back and watching a flick in large-screen glory!

We will have at least one photographer in attendance - so this is an ideal opportunity to get your install's picture taken properly

Prizes

Every year the attending crowd votes for their best in several categories:

Best Overall
Best PC
Best Dashboard
Most Ghetto
Most Original

Prizes rely on the huge generosity of our linked CarPC shops like LinITX.com and CarTFT.com. Many thanks to them for making this section of the Gathering possible.

Winners will be announced sunday afternoon

Location
As always the meet is held at Billing Aquadrome near Northampton

Directions & site info available here:
http://www.billingaquadrome.com

Entrance Fee
We do not charge an entrance fee ourselves, but the venue does:
Camping: £12 per day (per car)
Day visit: £5 (per car)

This is very reasonable as we get our own private field and power.
When you arrive at the gates, please state you are here for the Digital-Car gathering and they will charge and direct you accordingly. When asked at the gate - you don't need power! ;)

There are shower and toilet facilities availble closeby (less than 150m from marquee)

Note: There is a travel inn nearby if you'd like to stay the two days but don't like the idea of camping!

Suggested To-Bring List if camping

Tent (please let us know if you don't have one but would like to sleep over - we should have space in another tent)
Wash Kit
Sleeping Bag
Money, we often stop off at the pub at the gate for an evening meal on Sunday
Torch

Andehh,

We've had people turn up who haven't even posted on the forum, saw it and became interested so came along!

This is by no means an "old-timers only" event, the more new faces we see, the better! :D

I really hope you can come along!

I'd third that, we don't bite, and it would be great if we had hundreds of new people interested in carpc's turning up.

And so they should be. Who would want to pay to have a vehicle that lets you get so wet when it rains
