ok peeps. I've not annotated the gui for clarity.

what I'd like to know is this:

try to think of something you'd like to be able to do. If you can't do it using the functions that are there, then let me know what it is. easy :)

here it is

yep, I totally agree. the idea is that it will be up to the skin developer how the design is made. from my point of view, I'm getting the list of functions that need developing.

You're on holiday! Take a break!!

Can you add a directory of folders with music within the folders? It's hard to tell from the GUI (Plus I'm probably not looking hard enough)

I think rob means if i have three folders with three different "albums" in them with their album titles as there names.

like folder called deep forest containing all the tracks as folder one
folder called chillout moods ......
folder called the alex harvey band ......

that is the same as i have setup here

C:/MP3/deep forest/....
C:/MP3/chillout moods/.....

etc

so sorts and searches are on files and folders rather than the contents of the ID3 tag

just my tuppence worth

yep, the views would be: (1) by id3, (2) by file strcture, and (3) by file deduction.

and the rules for file deduction would be wherever music is within a folder, then display the folder name, only.

So if you had something like:
c:/mp3/deep forest
c:/mp3/chillout moods
d:/music/various unsorted

this would be displayed as:

c:/mp3/deep forest
c:/mp3/chillout moods
d:/music/various unsorted

ofcourse this begs the question, what when you have:

c:/mp3/Pet Shop Boys/Best Hits/Disk 1
c:/mp3/Pet Shop Boys/Best Hits/Disk 2
...

using the above logic, this would become
Disk 1
Disk 2
...
and lots more where there are only disks

I guess the way around that would be to detect where a folder only contains 2 folders, and no music AND those sub folders contain music. So they would be daisy chanined inthe name to produce:

Pet Shop Boys - Best Hits - Disk 1
Pet Shop Boys - Best Hits - Disk 2
