I have the screen fabed in to the dash and have it ready for painting. I had low tack masken tape on the screen and it had come off when I was sanding the isopond down. I was to lazy to get more and put on the screen. I have marked the screen with the sandpaper near the eage of the screen.

Here is some pics of it before I paint it. I forgot to get the paint on Saturday and it is a bank holiday here today.

I also have updated my pc hardware to

intel atom motherboard with 1.6Ghz D945GSEJT (From LinITX.COM)
Ram: 2Gb (From LinITX.COM)
Hard Disk: 320GB (Had from a friends dead laptop.)
Power supply: Carnet CNX-P1290 (From LinITX.COM)
Case: LinITX own case EPC-01

Mods if I have posted this in the wrong place please move it.

Good work on the dash chap! although it looks like it may need some more prep work before you paint it especially to the left of the screen as we see it...

Good job!

Kennyken,

Thank you for the comment. I know the top left sticks out more and the shape of the dash dose not help one bit if you take a look at Griff1's Zafira http://www.digital-car.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=11504 you will see.

i am going to paint it all matt black and hope the screen dose not stand out on the top left. If it dose I will sand it back and do some more work on that side.

I was takling about the section i have circled in red. It looks as though they are some quite deep pits but that could just be the photo lying to me. I know from experience you will need to get it perfectly flat for paint to look any good.

You really should take the screen out of the case before fabricating. Cut a block of mdf to the same size if you are worried about flexing of the bezel.

Lookin good mate,

I always hate that part of the build, when all thats left of the dash is the vision in your head.
Keep at it mate, it'll come together.

EDIT: What are you finishing the dash in....paint wise?

I have fitted the dash in the car after I spraied it satin black and it looks well. there is a few bit that could of been finished better and not just that the marks on the screen from the sandpaper now looks bad. i am going to try the stuf that can remove scraches for mobile phones. I will post some pics later when I get photo shop install on my laptop as my desktop has a over heating problem at the moment.

All I have to do is fit the PC and the aux battery and wire all up.

I have a pic ready and please don't tell me that I should of keet the screen out on till it was done, the reson the screen was in is because part of the dash ran right behind the screen on the top left of the screen.

it is the bottom of the screen that I marked with the sandpaper the rest of the marks on the screen is durt sorry I did not get time to clean the screen as the pic was taken just as I left for work.

I have spent a evening up on till an hour ago trying to get the aux relay working so it will charge the aux battery. The aux battery charging relay was bought in halfords. I took it a part and discoverd that it had a diode in the wrong way around.

I hope to have time on Thursday to get back at it and get the pc installed

The battery is a 12A hour seal lead acid battery the same type found in ups and burglar alarms.

The reason for the battery is so I can leave the pc in stand by and not kill my main battery.

The way the relay was wired is it will only be on when the engine is running. When I am parked someware and wating for someone I can use the pc of the aux battery and my HU will be powered from the main battery so I should kill the main battery quick.
