Peugeot uses CAN BUS technology. You could probably find some company who makes an interface but you'd have to do a fair bit of programmig by yourself.

Really? ECU deals with radio and climate control?

I thought the 407 display was just like an ordinary lcd display but must admit I have not pulled it apart yet, all the controls for the display is done through the radio which I'm planning on keeping, was hoping for a simple interface to convert signals to video out or something maybe why all 407 installs I've seen still keep the display.

As for canbus there's details of a Canbus Explorer in next months Elektro mag but not sure how much this is yet. (Details Here) Someone did post about canhacker software but the link to the site was down was going to have a read through see what was happening maybe in the future.

as for programming I can manage the microwave & video but it's seems to end there!!!!!!!

i wanted to do this in my corsa, all the data on the screen comes from the body control module and the head unit, didnt look into it too much but gave up lol, easiest thing would be to replace it with an usable lcd.

Well the newer VX ones deal with lots of stuff and not just the engine. Certainly not the control of it but I would not be supprised if the stats are not available to it.

This new CANBUS is a pain for this reason as you have to Tech2 every thing in and out such as lights and believe it or not seats.

The screens are just that now - all the driver info comes from the ECU in the first place.

put it in a dark box with a camera and hook it up to the AV input of the screen :)
