The Vectra CarPC v5 ( VXR Edtion ) Worklog Chat

Well.... I'm planning my install now... this is going to be a quiet thread over the next few months as I normally use my own blog but I wanted to get a few pics up for others.

Say hello to the new Car when I get there... a Vectra VXR 2.8 turbo MMmmmm ( May now be a 2.0T Xpack ( Not decided))

Loads of dash space... although its a 1.5 din ( 2005s onwards have a double din yay ) set up which is going to prove intresting.... although the facia is bigger so I may just squeeze a 7" in there still.

Loads of boot space....

All the car mains are located in the back :)

And finally - this is where v5 will be living....

My plan is to build a custom pc in to that space ( and there is loads ) and not just buy bits in.

To start this I'll use a small mATX case frame and build around that.... as well as uprating to a super fast cpu / board / vid card which is a shame because I love the Vias....

Terran

On my buy list now
  • Cartft.com TMR Screen ( Installed )
  • WRX Double DIN Kit ( Installed )
  • Rear cam ( forward cam ( Both Bought )
  • Intel Mobo so I can do the Flash Screen ( Using Via12000 for the moment )
  • A new skin - http://www.digital-car.co.uk/forum/s...ead.php?t=8385 ( New one been developed for CF2 )
  • Mini ATX Tower Case ( small ) for the boot build ( Gone for a Voom2 )
  • New Boot Door Cover to hack & some perspex ( As above )
  • Connects 2 Double DIN Kit ( Installed )
  • Connects2 Steering Controler ( TBC )
  • DAB Something ( To be installed )
  • TMC GPS ( Just waiting for a new one to come out )
  • SATA Hard drive for the System ( May be a hybrid with CF In it ) ( TBC )
  • MP3 Player ( Prob the Creative Zen ) to act as an external HD ( Ipod 160 Classic Bought )
  • Memory ( 512mb ) ( Installed )
  • May be an extra Vid card ( Not required )
  • OBD http://www.obdpros.com/ ( ELM 237 1.2a Installed )

No it's one third light blue, one third dark blue and a third red.

All at a 20 degree-ish angle.
