    YouTube music ripper

    Well I've been using youtube for a bit to search for crap but then came across afew music videos which I wouldnt mind. Now I know the quality isnt the best but on a 7 inch screen its not to bad at all. So I thought lets rip this out and then use FreeICE to play them. So yep FreeICE plays FLV no probs ..

    Just wondering if anyone has played with this and is the music in stereo.. I'm only on a mini laptop with a single speaker at the mo so cant tell.

    O the ripping site is.

    just stick in the youtube url and it provides you with a download link, very easy and simple.. 3min video is about 9mb :-)

    I'm just saving them as name.flv and then have added support into freeice by just changing a line in fi.ini to support it.. thats it. just busy downloading afew to test

    supportedformats=mp3;flv;asf;asx;avi;wav;wax;wma;wm;mpg;m1v;mp2;mpa;mpe;vo b;aif;au;snd;ivf;mov;qt;wmv

    i would not go from flv to mpeg, its lost enough quality as it is without re-compressing it.

    nice that FI can handle flv.

    you could use ''SUPER'' which is a fantastic (and free) video conversion utility, to convert to say mpg and mp3, and then click disable video, so you just get an mp3, if you just want the sound.

    This topic may be of help to me. Ive just started downloading some YouTube music vids. I used download helper for firefox, really simple, but then ive converted them to AVI. Im currently playing around with Digital Dash 5.0 which i assumed wouldnt play FLV, maybe it will?

    I use this program to download flv files. It also works to download tv shows and movies from Hulu.com

    Can you view Hulu in the UK or is it US only?

    You can also use a firefox extension called download helper. It will download flv files from hundreds of flash video sites.
