    Decent soundcard?

On the loookout for a decent soundcard to hopefully make my speakers sound that little better than the onboard off the intel atom board.

At the minute im sending it out the rear audio out jack into the AV sound IN on my headunit in the glovebox and then back into the amps at the rear.

I have amped front and rears and also a sub.

What sundcard is going to give me compatibility and also sound good for a decent price.

    Chris

PCI or USB. Will the quality be good from a USB SC?

Above is a bit too expensive....looking 30-40 max.

Quality with USB sound card will be good but you can except that you will have problems if you will use hibernate/sleep...

For 30-40 I don't know what to reccomend you because I don't know for any good SC for this price... For little more MAYBE audiotrak prodigy 7.1 hifi...

    Looking into this again.

Ideally want seperate channels from front and rear speakers and a sub out too.

Whats out there on market these days?

    Preferably PCI.

there is not a lot out there other than creatives offerings tbh.

should be possible to pick up a decent PCI card from them for not a lot these days as you wont need one will all the bells and whistles.

Slightly of topic but what about something like this

    Ive got one in my
I know its not what you asked for but it uses a single output and splits it to front, rear and sub all of which are tuneable.
You also get an aux input for something like an ipod/mp3 player i send the ipod video to aux in on to one of my monitors so if my Car Pc is out or playing up i can run my ipod as i found my Zotac board audio output was very poor and clipped if i would the wick up past 30% so i used this unit to boost the levels.
