View Full Version : Lacquer

The thing that is stopping me finish my dash build is a coat of clear matt lacquer. But, can I find any?
I used to know a good place that made up spray cans where I used to live.
Halfords do it but the guy looked at me like I wanted to bugger his mother when I asked for matt. "But.. People want lacquer for the shine.." was all he could say.
I have looked at yellow pages for car spray places but when I go there they dont seem to exist.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Hmm, the ebay one looks ok. Have asked if it has any issues with car paint.

shouldnt have a problem with 'car paint', car paint sold to joe public is cellulose, which can also be used for models etc so should be fine.

how big an area you got to do? if its fairly flat and not too big use masking fablon. Do the whole soapy water thing and its a matt (ish) finnish.

You can get a matt finish with halfords lacquer - VERY light coats result in the entire work having the normally undesirable dry spray effect (paint's almost dry by the time it hits surface)

You can help this along by heating the work + air
